300 Kgs of Ganja Seized in Hyderabad, Two Held
They were held when they were transporting 10 Ganja bags concealed under empty plastic trays from Visakhapatnam to Ahmednagar, Maharashtra for selling illegally at a higher price.
Hyderabad: The city police on Saturday arrested two drug peddlers and seized 300 kgs of Narcotic contraband drug “Ganja’ from them.
Police also seized two cell phones and a goods vehicle from their possession.
On credible information, the sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force, North Zone team, Hyderabad along with Malakpet Police arrested, Vilas Bhausahed Dhokane (33), driver-cum-drug peddler of Ranjan Bagh in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra and Dnyaneshwar Mohite (26), Mason and drug peddler of Hivare in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, at Moosarambagh Cross Roads in the early hours of today.
They were held when they were transporting 10 Ganja bags concealed under empty plastic trays from Narsipatnam in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh to Ahmednagar, Maharashtra for selling illegally at a higher price, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar told media here.
He said that the accused Dhokane is native of Aurangabad district and is owner-cum-driver of Tata goods vehicle used for transporting goods from Maharashtra to surrounding areas of Visakhapatnam district.
While transporting goods he came into contact with a Ganja dealer of Narsipatnam.
Another accused Mohite is native of Ahmed Nagar district and is also a goods driver. He used to go with a goods vehicle in support of Dhokane.
Both the accused invested in Ganja trading and sharing profits, the Commissioner said.
During the investigation, it was noticed that some of the drivers working under Ganja smuggling agents from Zaheerabad area, pilferage Ganja from trucks and supplying to Hyderabad, he said.
Mr Kumar said that the market value of Ganja is about Rs 30 lakh and added the goods vehicle worth Rs 15.86 lakh was also seized.
The accused persons along with seized material are being handed over to SHO, Malakpet Police Station for further investigation.
They were booked under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the Commissioner added.
