No re-polling; counting votes for all constituencies: Vikas Raj

Telangana CEO Vikas Raj said there is no possibility of conducting re-polling anywhere in Telangana State and all arrangements were being made for the counting of votes on December 3.

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj said there is no possibility of conducting re-polling anywhere in Telangana State and all arrangements were being made for the counting of votes on December 3.

Speaking to media persons here on Friday, the CEO said three-step security has been arranged near each counting center and the counting will be held at 49 centers across the State on Sunday.

Vikas Raj said 70.74 polling percentage was recorded across the Telangana State on Thursday. Compared to 2018, it has decreased by 3 percent. In 2018, 73.37 percent was recorded.

However, 75 percent polling has been recorded in 78 Assembly constituencies. Moreover, the postal ballot votes have been cast more than ever before. About 1.80 lakh people have used postal ballot in Telangana, he said.

The CEO said those who are above 80 years of age have been given the opportunity to vote from home and the experiment of providing vote facility from home has been successful this time.

He said the highest turnout was recorded in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district with 90.03 percent and the lowest was recorded in Hyderabad with 46.68 percent.
