A young female doctor on duty at a government hospital in Kollam, Kerala, was stabbed to death by a school teacher. The incident took place when the lady doctor was treating the patient.
The accused was taken to the hospital by the police for medical examination. 23 year old Vandana Das, a doctor studied at Azizia Institute of Medical Science, Kollam was reportedly on duty at the hospital.
Vandanadas sustained multiple stab wounds on her chest and neck in the attack and died at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram where she was shifted for treatment.
S Sandeep, 42, a teacher at an upper primary school in Nedumpanna in Kollam district, attacked the doctor and four other persons, including police personnel, who were taking him for a medical examination, police said.
ADGP (Law and Order) Mr Ajith Kumar told the media that Sandeep was taken to the hospital due to injuries. When he was brought to the hospital, he attacked the persons who were taking him for examination. The incident took place when the injured person was taken to the dressing room after the medical examination, where he jumped from the bed and kicked his relative named Banu, attacked the guard (who was with the police team), a police constable on duty and another person.
After this attack, everyone else managed to get out of the doctor’s room while Dr. Vandana could not get out. Meanwhile, Sandeep stabbed the lady doctor several times. It is learned that the accused was in a state of intoxication and was caught by the police in some case. When the police brought him to the hospital for a medical test, he created a ruckus and took the life of the lady.
