Seers at Ayodhya Outraged Over Owaisi’s Visit

The saints threatened to ban him from entering Ayodhya, claiming that the'mischief' was intentional and a ploy to polarise people on religious grounds.

Ayodhya: Saints and seers in Ayodhya are protesting AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi’s visit to Ayodhya on September 7 after his party’s posters used ‘Faizabad’ instead of  Ayodhya.

In 2018, the Yogi Adityanath government renamed Faizabad district Ayodhya.

Seers at Ayodhya threatened to ban him from entering, claiming that the’mischief’ was intentional and a ploy to polarise people on religious grounds.

The seers also threatened to cancel his rally, which was being organised under the aegis of the ‘Shoshit Vanchit Samaj Sammelan,’ unless Faizabad was removed off the posters.

Owaisi will address a public meeting in Rudauli, a Muslim-majority constituency about 40 kilometres from the Ram Janmabhoomi.

Hanuman Garhi’s Mahant Raju Das questioned, “Why is Ayodhya being renamed Faizabad by Owaisi? We denounce his communal ideology and demand that the posters be taken down.”

Tapasvi Chavni’s Mahant Paramhans Das remarked, “Owaisi’s anti-Hindu stance is also an insult to Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Owaisi’s admission into Ayodhya would be prevented if posters bearing the name Faizabad are not removed, and the public gathering in Rudauli will be disrupted.”

Iqbal Ansari, one of the first plaintiffs in the Ayodhya title suit, has also criticised Owaisi’s political entrance into the city.

“Muslims should be wary of Owaisi, who should stay in Hyderabad and avoid inflaming the feelings of tens of thousands of Muslims in Uttar Pradesh. I urge the public not to be swayed by his polarisation attempts”, he stated Meanwhile, AIMIM district president Shahnawaz Siddiqui stated, “We have a tendency of referring to Faizabad by its previous name. The new name takes some time to settle in. This is a little problem that should not be exaggerated.”(IANS)
