SIR-2026: GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan Calls for Coordination Among BLOs, Political Parties to Cover Every Eligible Voter

GHMC Commissioner and District Election Officer R.V. Karnan reviewed SIR-2026 progress in Hyderabad and directed BLOs, EROs and AEROs to strengthen voter awareness while following Election Commission of India guidelines.

Hyderabad District Election Officer (DEO) and GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan on Monday chaired the weekly review meeting on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026, stressing the need for close coordination among Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and recognised political parties to ensure that every eligible elector is covered. He also directed officials to strictly follow the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines and clarified that no document, including Aadhaar Card, should be insisted upon or collected along with the Enumeration Form.

Weekly SIR-2026 Review Meeting Held in Hyderabad

The weekly review meeting was chaired by District Election Officer & GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan with representatives of recognised political parties to review the progress of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026.

During the meeting, the DEO briefed representatives on:

  • Status of house-to-house enumeration
  • Collection of Enumeration Forms
  • Digitization of Enumeration Forms

He emphasised the importance of coordination among BLOs, BLAs and political parties to ensure every eligible voter is covered.

Political Parties Raise Key Issues

During the review meeting, representatives of recognised political parties raised several issues related to:

  • Voter awareness
  • Availability of BLOs
  • Collection of Enumeration Forms
  • Digitization centres

Karnan Issues Directions to EROs and AEROs

The DEO directed the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) to:

  • Strengthen voter awareness through Tom-Tom and SAT Auto publicity.
  • Ensure prompt response by BLOs and BLO Supervisors to citizens and political party representatives.
  • Strictly adhere to the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines.

He reiterated that no document, including Aadhaar Card, shall be insisted upon or collected along with the Enumeration Form.

BLOs to Remain Available from 8 AM to 8 PM

R.V. Karnan further instructed that all BLOs and BLO Supervisors should remain available in their assigned field areas from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM throughout the enumeration period.

He also directed EROs and AEROs to provide updated lists of:

  • BLOs
  • BLO Supervisors
  • Designated centres for collection and digitisation of Enumeration Forms

These updated lists are to be furnished during the weekly meetings with political parties.

Suggestions Invited from Political Parties

The DEO invited suggestions from representatives of recognised political parties and assured them that all genuine issues would be addressed promptly in accordance with the Election Commission of India guidelines.

Reviewing the progress of SIR-2026, District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan called for close coordination among BLOs, BLAs and political parties to ensure every eligible voter is covered. He directed officials to strengthen voter awareness, keep BLOs available from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, follow Election Commission of India guidelines, and ensure that no document, including Aadhaar Card, is insisted upon or collected with the Enumeration Form.
