In a major step towards digital governance and citizen-centric service delivery, the Telangana Government has launched School Education Services on WhatsApp, enabling more than 18 lakh students and parents across the state to receive regular updates and important information related to School Education Department services and activities directly through WhatsApp.

The initiative was formally launched at a grand event held at LB Stadium, Hyderabad, on Friday by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The platform has been developed by the Electronic Service Delivery (ESD) – MeeSeva Division of the Telangana Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (ITE&C) Department, in collaboration with the School Education Department.
The services have already reached more than 18 lakh parents and students across Telangana.
WhatsApp Updates to Cover Education and Student Services
Under the initiative, students and parents will receive updates related to:
- Academic progress
- Distribution of educational materials
- Scholarships
- Examinations
- School events
- Health and wellness programmes
- Other student-centric initiatives
The government stated that the platform will ensure timely communication between the government, schools, students, and parents.
Educational Services Already Available on WhatsApp
Several important educational services are already accessible through WhatsApp, including:
- Progress reports
- Hall ticket downloads
- Marks memos
- Examination results
- Historic SSC memos (83,000)
- Bonafide certificates
- Transfer certificates
- SSC memo correction requests
Officials stated that lakhs of students and parents have utilized these digital services over the past year, significantly reducing the need for physical visits and paperwork.
More Services to Be Added in the Next Phase
The Telangana Government announced that additional services will be introduced in the next phase, including:
- Student feedback mechanisms
- Parent feedback mechanisms
- Updates on uniform distribution
- Textbook distribution updates
- Notebook distribution updates
- Attendance details
- Pre-matric scholarship applications
- Mid-day meal information
- Health and wellness programmes
- Sports activities
- Co-curricular activities
- Residential school welfare initiative updates
The expansion aims to provide a comprehensive digital education service ecosystem through WhatsApp.
Palapitta Mascot to Deliver Updates Through Video Messages
A unique feature of the initiative is the introduction of Palapitta (Indian Roller) as a friendly mascot.
According to the government, Palapitta will communicate important information and updates to students and parents through engaging video messages on WhatsApp.
Officials said the initiative is designed to make government communication more interactive, accessible, and relatable.
Revanth Reddy Highlights Technology-Driven Education
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy emphasized the government’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve educational outcomes and strengthen engagement with students and parents.
The government stated that the initiative reflects Telangana’s continued leadership in adopting digital platforms for efficient and citizen-friendly governance.
