Tragic Accident Claims 22 Lives in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj

A devastating accident in Kasganj claimed the lives of at least 22 people and left several others injured when a tractor-trolley carrying devotees plunged into a pond. Local reports indicate that upon learning of the accident, nearby residents rushed to the scene to aid in rescue efforts. Many injured individuals were promptly transported to local hospitals for urgent medical attention.

Expressing his condolences, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed authorities to swiftly mobilize relief efforts and extend support to the injured victims. His sentiments were echoed by President Murmu and Prime Minister Modi, who conveyed their sympathies and pledged assistance to the affected families.

Prime Minister Modi announced an ex gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the next of kin of each deceased individual, along with Rs 50,000 for the injured. Meanwhile, political leaders including Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati shared their sorrow over the tragedy, emphasizing the importance of prompt relief measures and adequate compensation for the affected families.

The heartbreaking incident has cast a pall of sadness over Kasganj and underscores the importance of ensuring the safety of devotees during religious gatherings and events.
