HYDRAA Commissioner Interacts With Survey No. 307 Residents

The inspection took place in Gajularamaram, under Quthbullapur mandal of Medchal–Malkajgiri district, after rumours created fear among residents living in Survey No. 307. The Commissioner spoke directly with families and urged them not to panic or believe rumours.

He made it clear that:

  • Existing poor families will not be evicted
  • HYDRAA will protect government land without disturbing residents
  • No new house construction will be allowed in the area
  • Anyone misusing HYDRAA’s name for cheating should report directly to the HYDRAA office

Fence to Protect Government Land, Poor Houses to Be Spared

Officials said a protective fence will be constructed, clearly excluding existing poor households, to prevent further encroachment on government land in Gajularamaram. HYDRAA reiterated that nowhere in the city will poor people’s homes be removed under its operations.

Pragathi Nagar Lake: Alternative Space for Small Vendors

During the same visit, the HYDRAA Commissioner reviewed the situation at Pragathi Nagar (Ambir Cheruvu). He instructed officials to identify and allot alternative locations for small vendors operating on both sides of the road passing through the lake area.

Key directions included:

  • Relocate vendors only after showing alternative sites
  • Ensure vendors can continue their livelihoods smoothly
  • Protect the lake from pollution and encroachment

Steps Taken to Protect Pragathi Nagar Cheruvu

HYDRAA officials said action is being taken following complaints received through HYDRAA Prajavani. So far:

  • About 150 lorries of garbage have been removed from the lake surroundings
  • Local residents complained about fish, chicken, and meat waste being dumped into the lake
  • The dumping had caused severe foul smell in nearby residential areas

The Commissioner directed local authorities to shift vendors to alternative sites and strictly prevent waste dumping into the lake.

Officials Present During the Inspection

The inspection was attended by HYDRAA Additional Director Varla Papaiah, ACP Umamaheshwar, along with officials from HYDRAA, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Revenue, and Irrigation departments.

With clear assurances at Gajularamaram Survey No. 307 and firm action at Pragathi Nagar Cheruvu, HYDRAA has reiterated its commitment to protect poor families while safeguarding government land and water bodies. The agency has called on citizens to stay alert, avoid rumours, and cooperate in keeping Hyderabad’s assets secure.
