Hyderabad Water Supply to Be Hit for 18 Hours, Check Affected Areas and Date

Hyderabad water supply to be disrupted for 18 hours due to pipeline repairs and maintenance. Check the full list of affected areas.

Several parts of Hyderabad will face no water supply or low water pressure for 18 hours, from 10 am on January 3 to 4 am on January 4, due to major repair and maintenance works.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has advised residents in the affected areas to use water conservatively to avoid inconvenience during the shutdown period.

Why Is Water Supply Being Suspended?

According to HMWSSB, the shutdown has been planned to carry out urgent rectification of heavy leakages on the Krishna Phase-III main pipeline, along with power and maintenance works by TS Transco.

Key Reasons for the Shutdown

  • Repair of major leakages in the 1,600 mm dia Singur Phase-III pipeline
  • MRT testing of the 132 KV Peddapur feeder
  • Hotline remarks and general maintenance at 132 KV Kandi sub-station
  • Coordinated works to ensure long-term water supply stability

HMWSSB officials have urged consumers to:

  • Avoid unnecessary water usage

Officials said the repairs are essential to prevent future breakdowns and leakages in Hyderabad’s drinking water network.

Hyderabad receives a major share of its drinking water from the Manjira and Singur projects. Recent inspections revealed serious leakages in the Singur Phase-III pipeline, making immediate repair work unavoidable.
