Balapur Police Hold Meeting with Medical Shop Owners to Curb Illegal Sale of Drugs

Balapur Police held a meeting with medical shop owners in Rangareddy district, warning against selling medicines without prescriptions and announcing strict action to protect youth.

Rangareddy District: In a proactive move to protect youth and prevent drug misuse, the Balapur Police conducted a special meeting with medical shop owners under the Balapur Police Station limits of the Hyderabad Commissionerate. The meeting comes in the wake of recent incidents where some youngsters allegedly lost their lives after illegally obtaining tablets and injections from medical stores.

Addressing the gathering, police issued strict instructions to ensure compliance with medical and safety regulations.

Inspector Warns Against Sale Without Prescription

Balapur Inspector Sudhakar addressed around 40 medical shop owners who attended the meeting.

Key directions issued by police:

  • No medicines, tablets, or injections to be sold without a valid doctor’s prescription
  • Medical shops must operate only during government-approved timings
  • Maintain proper records and follow pharmacy norms strictly

Inspector Sudhakar made it clear that any violation will invite strict legal action.

Strict Action Promised for Rule Violations

Police warned that shops found flouting rules—especially selling medicines to youngsters without prescriptions—will face severe consequences, including legal cases and closure.

Officials said enforcement checks will be intensified in the coming days to ensure compliance.

Focus on Saving Youth and Public Safety

Inspector Sudhakar stated that the objective of the initiative is to protect the future of young people and prevent avoidable tragedies caused by misuse of medicines.

He appealed to medical shop owners to:

  • Act responsibly
  • Cooperate with police
  • Put public safety above profit

Police Seek Cooperation From Pharmacists

The Balapur Police emphasized that cooperation from medical shop owners is crucial to curb illegal drug access and ensure a safer community. Similar meetings and inspections are expected across other police station limits as well.
