Telangana Half-Day Schools Announced: Timings, Summer Holidays and Ramadan Schedule

In view of the rising temperatures, the government has announced Telangana half-day schools, bringing changes to school timings across the state. Both government and private schools will function from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM, after which students will be served the mid-day meal and sent home.

The move aims to protect students from heat-related health issues as summer approaches.

New School Timings and Exam Arrangements

Under the Telangana half-day schools schedule:

  • Regular classes: 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM
  • Mid-day meal served at 12:30 PM
  • Schools functioning as Class X exam centres will hold classes from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM
  • Special coaching for Class X students will continue during exam period

The revised timetable ensures both academic continuity and student safety.

Summer Holidays and New Academic Year Dates

The education department also announced the academic calendar along with the Telangana half-day schools decision:

  • Summer vacations: April 24 to June 11
  • Schools reopen for new academic year 2026-27: June 12

Officials said the schedule is designed to help parents and students plan in advance.

Special Ramadan Timings for Urdu Medium Schools

Considering the holy month, special arrangements have been made alongside Telangana half-day schools:

  • One-day schools for Urdu medium schools and DIET colleges from February 19 to March 20
  • Timings: 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM
  • Additional classes may be held once a week if required

The adjustment aims to reduce inconvenience for students observing fasting.
