Hyderabad CCS Special Crime Team busts duplicate tea powder, surf powder and Good Night refill racket, arresting three persons who were allegedly selling fake branded household products in the city. The operation was conducted jointly by the Special Crime Team of CCS, Hyderabad City, along with Goshamahal and Afzalgunj Police.

A large quantity of duplicate Red Label, Taj Mahal tea powder, Surf Excel, Tide, Ariel, Wheel detergents and Good Night mosquito refills were seized during the raid.
Three Arrested for Selling Duplicate Branded Products in Hyderabad
On March 2, 2026, acting on credible information, the Special Crime Team apprehended three accused persons involved in selling duplicate products to retail and wholesale shops in Hyderabad.
Arrested Persons:
- Jaya Ram (30) – Resident of Begumbazar, Hyderabad
- Kachhawa Surendera (34) – Resident of Dullapally, Qutbullahpur
- Hanuman Ram (21) – Native of Barmer District, Rajasthan
Police said the accused were supplying fake products in areas such as:
- Goshamahal
- Afzalgunj
- Begumbazar
- Other nearby markets in Hyderabad
Huge Quantity of Duplicate Tea Powder, Surf & Good Night Refills Seized
During the operation, police recovered a massive stock of counterfeit goods.
Seized Items Include:
- 1,340 duplicate Red Label tea powder packets (100g, 250g, 20g)
- 100 duplicate Taj Mahal tea powder packets (50g)
- 950 duplicate Tide surf powder packets (75g)
- 100 duplicate Ariel surf powder packets (15g)
- 300 duplicate Wheel surf powder packets (100g)
- 550 duplicate Surf Excel powder packets (65g)
- 3,600 duplicate Good Night mosquito repellent refills (45ml)
- 9,500 duplicate label packing covers
- 75 kg of raw tea powder
The counterfeit products were designed to look like original branded items and were sold at heavy discounts.
How the Racket Operated
According to police officials, the accused:
- Purchased duplicate packing covers and low-quality materials from dealers in Gujarat
- Packed the products to resemble original branded goods
- Supplied them to local retail and wholesale shops
- Sold them at discounted prices while falsely claiming them to be genuine
This illegal activity posed a serious risk to consumer health and safety.
Operation Led by CCS Special Crime Team
The raid was conducted by Inspector D. Bikshapathi of the Special Crime Team under the supervision of ACP G. Venkateswar Reddy, CCS, Hyderabad.
The accused have been handed over to Goshamahal and Afzalgunj Police Stations for further legal action.
