Hyderabad Raid: Adulterated Ginger Garlic Paste Seized in Lalapet Godown, Four Arrested

Hyderabad Task Force raids Lalapet godown, seizes 1,915 kg adulterated ginger garlic paste and arrests four accused involved in producing unhygienic food products.

Hyderabad: In a major food safety operation, police conducted a raid on a ginger garlic paste godown in Lalapet, Secunderabad, and seized large quantities of adulterated and unhygienic ginger garlic paste. During the raid at the Jhansi Ginger and Garlic Paste Godown near Janapriya Apartments, authorities arrested four persons involved in producing and selling the contaminated food product.

The operation was carried out by the Commissioner’s Task Force, Secunderabad Zone Team, along with Lallaguda Police, following credible information about illegal food production at the location.

Four Accused Arrested in Lalapet Adulterated Food Case

Police arrested four individuals who were allegedly involved in preparing and supplying adulterated ginger garlic paste in Lalapet.

Details of the arrested persons:

  • Neela Venkateswaralu (56) – Owner of Jhansi Ginger and Garlic Paste Godown, resident of Lalapet
  • K Vinod (46) – Supervisor, resident of Shanti Nagar, Lallaguda
  • T Sathish (23) – Worker, resident of H North Lallaguda, Secunderabad
  • M Shivani (46) – Worker, resident of BJR Nagar, Malkajgiri

Police registered a case at Lallaguda Police Station under Crime No. 84/2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

1,900+ Kg Adulterated Ginger Garlic Paste Seized

During the Lalapet godown raid in Hyderabad, officials seized a large quantity of adulterated food materials and equipment used for production and packaging.

Seized items include:

  • 18 plastic tubs of ginger garlic paste (45 kg each)
  • Acetic acid – 30 kg
  • Xanthan gum – approx. 10 kg
  • Ginger garlic paste boxes (5 kg) – 80
  • Ginger garlic paste boxes (1 kg) – 300
  • Ginger garlic paste boxes (500 grams) – 370
  • Ginger garlic paste boxes (175 grams) – 1320
  • Raw ginger and garlic – 80 kg
  • Grinding and mixing machine – 1
  • Packing machines – 2
  • Weighing machine – 1
  • Date stamps – 4
  • Jhansi brand labels – 86

In total, authorities seized around 1,915 kilograms of ginger garlic paste during the operation.

How the Adulterated Ginger Garlic Paste Was Produced

According to investigators, the accused were preparing ginger garlic paste in highly unhygienic conditions.

Police said the suspects:

  • Mixed acetic acid and other substances with ginger and garlic paste
  • Stored the mixture in plastic tubs for several days
  • Packed the paste in plastic containers of different sizes
  • Used fake brand labels and stamps
  • Supplied the adulterated product to local kirana stores and customers

Officials said the operation was carried out to prevent the sale of unsafe food products in Hyderabad markets.

Police Team Conducted the Lalapet Food Safety Raid

The raid was conducted by a joint team of the Secunderabad Zone Task Force and Lallaguda Police.

The operation was led by:

  • Inspector J Raj Shekar – Secunderabad Zone Task Force
  • Inspector T Ashok Kumar – Lallaguda Police Station
  • Sub-Inspector S Raju – Secunderabad Zone Task Force
  • Sub-Inspector M Rajeshwar Reddy – Lallaguda Police Station

They were assisted by the Task Force team and Lallaguda Police staff.

Police Warn Against Sale of Adulterated Food Products

Officials said strict action will be taken against those involved in manufacturing and selling adulterated food items in Hyderabad.

Authorities also urged shopkeepers and consumers to remain cautious about low-quality food products and unverified brands being sold in local markets.
