In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) along with Borabanda Police seized 4 kg ganja and arrested three accused in Borabanda, Hyderabad. The Hyderabad drug bust also led to the seizure of a scooter and mobile phones, with total property worth ₹2.5 lakh.

3 Arrested in Hyderabad Ganja Case

Police identified the accused involved in the Borabanda ganja supply case:

Suppliers

  • G. Rakesh (25), bike mechanic from Odisha
  • Bt. Vijay Kumar (21), centring labour from Odisha

Local Peddler

  • Kotha Tirumala Reddy (27), driver from Borabanda, Hyderabad

Seizure Details

During the operation, police recovered:

  • 4 kilograms of ganja
  • TVS Jupiter scooter (TS09EB8553)
  • 3 mobile phones

The total seized items are valued at ₹2,50,000.

How the Drug Network Operated

According to investigators, the Hyderabad ganja racket followed a structured supply chain:

  • Ganja was sourced from Odisha suppliers
  • The peddler either traveled to Odisha or received deliveries in Hyderabad
  • Drugs were sold locally at higher prices for profit
  • Payments were collected via cash and UPI transactions

Background of the Accused

Police revealed that:

  • The main accused Kotha Tirumala Reddy faced financial losses in business
  • He later turned to ganja peddling for quick money
  • The illegal trade was used to maintain a lavish lifestyle

Case Registered Under NDPS Act

The case has been registered at Borabanda Police Station under:

  • NDPS Act sections 8(c), 20(b), 27(b)
  • Crime No. 193/2026

Further investigation is ongoing to track other accused, including one absconding supplier from Odisha.
