Hyderabad Bullet Train Corridors: 650 Acres Identified for Shamshabad Junction, Metro Connectivity Planned

Hyderabad bullet train corridors update: 650 acres identified for Shamshabad junction with metro connectivity planned.

Hyderabad: In a major infrastructure development, the Centre has announced three high-speed bullet train corridors from Hyderabad in the Union Budget 2026–27 presented on February 1, 2026. As part of this project, a major bullet train junction will be developed near Shamshabad, close to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the airport.

Officials have identified 650 acres of land for the project, and land acquisition has already been completed, marking a significant step in the Hyderabad bullet train corridor project.

Bullet Train Routes from Hyderabad to Major Cities

The proposed high-speed rail corridors from Hyderabad will connect the city to:

  • Chennai
  • Bengaluru
  • Pune

These routes aim to improve connectivity between four major cities, making Hyderabad a key hub in the India bullet train network.

Shamshabad to Become Major Bullet Train Hub

The bullet train junction in Shamshabad will be developed as a central hub:

  • Location: Near ORR and Hyderabad Airport (Shamshabad)
  • Land identified: 650 acres
  • Areas involved:
    • Rashidguda
    • Chinna Golkonda
    • Bahadurguda (Survey No. 28 & 62)

A large terminal will be constructed at this location, making it one of the most important infrastructure projects in the region.

Metro Connectivity to Bullet Train Junction

To enhance connectivity, the Telangana government is planning:

  • Extension of Hyderabad Metro Rail to Shamshabad airport
  • Direct integration between metro and bullet train terminal
  • Seamless travel from metro to bullet train

Key metro projects include:

  • 36.8 km stretch from Nagole to Shamshabad
  • Additional 40 km metro line from airport to Future City

This will allow passengers to easily switch between metro, airport, and high-speed trains.

Project Cost and Current Status

According to official estimates:

  • Total cost: ₹43,848 crore for three corridors
  • Current stage:
    • Land acquisition completed (for junction area)
    • Alignment survey in progress
    • Detailed Project Report (DPR) under preparation

The project is currently in the planning and development phase.

Hyderabad Set to Become Key Bullet Train Hub

The Hyderabad bullet train corridors project, with a 650-acre Shamshabad junction and metro connectivity, is expected to transform regional connectivity. Once completed, the project will significantly reduce travel time and position Hyderabad as a major hub in India’s high-speed rail network.
