The Telangana Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has decided to extend free breakfast and mid-day meals to teachers, lecturers, non-teaching staff, and other personnel, in addition to students, in all government schools and junior colleges across the state. The decision was taken during Telangana’s inaugural e-Cabinet meeting held at the Secretariat on Thursday. The government expects the move to improve punctuality, encourage quality time in educational institutions, and strengthen the education system.

Telangana Cabinet Takes Major Decision on Free School Meals

During Telangana’s first e-Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at the Secretariat on Thursday, the Cabinet approved a significant proposal for the education sector.

The Cabinet resolved to provide free breakfast and mid-day meals to all teachers, lecturers, non-teaching staff, and other personnel, along with students, in every government school and government junior college across Telangana.

Earlier Scheme Was Limited to Students

Previously, the mid-day meal scheme, and in some areas the Chief Minister’s Breakfast Programme, were available only to students studying in government schools.

With the latest Cabinet decision, the free meal facility has now been extended to:

  • Teachers
  • Lecturers
  • Non-teaching staff
  • Other personnel working throughout the day in government schools and junior colleges
  • Students

Government Expects Better Attendance and Quality Time

According to the government, the decision is expected to:
