GHMC Expands Udvasana Sacred Collection Drive to 12 Centres Across Hyderabad on July 18

GHMC has expanded its Udvasana Sacred Collection Drive to 12 centres across Hyderabad. The drive will be held on July 18, 2026, from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM for the respectful collection and recycling of sacred items.

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has expanded its Udvasana Sacred Collection Drive across Hyderabad following the overwhelming response to earlier phases of the programme. Under Phase 3, the number of collection centres has been increased from 6 to 12 to make participation more accessible and convenient. The drive will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM, after which no sacred items will be accepted.

GHMC Udvasana Program Phase 3 Scheduled for July 18

GHMC announced that the Sacred Collection Drive under the Udvasana Program – Phase 3 will take place on:

  • Date: July 18, 2026 (Saturday)
  • Time: 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM

GHMC has requested citizens to note that no sacred items will be accepted after 11:00 AM.

Sacred Items Accepted for Respectful Farewell and Recycling

Citizens have been requested to bring the following items for respectful farewell prayers (Udvasana) and environmentally responsible recycling:

  • Old deity photographs
  • Damaged frames
  • Worn-out idols
  • Pooja items
  • Calendars
  • Other sacred materials

According to GHMC, the initiative aims to help preserve religious traditions while ensuring the environmentally responsible disposal and recycling of sacred items.

New Collection Centres Added Across Hyderabad

As part of the expansion, GHMC has added six new collection centres:

  • Ameerpet Circle – 7 Temples
  • Moosarambagh Circle – Sri Venkateswara Swamy Devasthanam
  • Attapur Circle – Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Temple
  • Badangpet Circle – Kashi Bugga Shiva Temple
  • Goshamahal Circle – Sitaram Bagh Temple
  • Musheerabad Circle – Sri Shirdi Sai Baba Devalaya Nirmana Samasthan

Existing Collection Centres

The following existing collection centres will also participate in the drive:

  • Charminar Zone – Bhu Lakshmi Mandir, Saidabad
  • Secunderabad Zone – Shiva Anjaneya Swamy Temple, Tarnaka
  • Rajendranagar Zone – Sri Venkateshwara Temple Hari Hari Khestram, Rajendranagar
  • Shamshabad Zone – Sri Dharma Sai Seva Trust, Shamshabad
  • Khairatabad Zone – Sri Mahankali Temple, Ramkoti
  • Golconda Zone – Sri Vishwanjaneya Bhaktha Samajam Temple Trust, Gudimalkapur

GHMC Appeals to Citizens to Participate

GHMC has appealed to residents to locate the nearest collection centre and participate in the Udvasana Sacred Collection Drive.

The civic body said the initiative encourages the respectful collection and environmentally responsible recycling of sacred items, helping preserve traditions while protecting the environment.

The GHMC Udvasana Sacred Collection Drive – Phase 3 will be held across 12 collection centres in Hyderabad on July 18, 2026, from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Citizens are encouraged to bring old deity photographs, damaged frames, worn-out idols, pooja items, calendars, and other sacred materials for respectful farewell prayers and responsible recycling. GHMC has clarified that no items will be accepted after 11:00 AM.
