NEET Paper Leak Row: PM Modi Announces Fast-Track Courts, Rahul Gandhi Slams Government

New Delhi: Amid ongoing student protests in the national capital over the alleged NEET paper leak and examination irregularities, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that the government will establish special fast-track courts to ensure speedy trials in paper leak cases and strict punishment for those found guilty.
For the past several days, students, various student organisations and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) have been protesting over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination, demanding greater transparency and reforms in the examination system. The issue has also triggered a political confrontation between the government and the Opposition in Parliament.
In a post on X on Thursday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that nothing is more important than the future and welfare of the country’s youth.
He announced that the government had decided to establish special fast-track courts for the speedy hearing and disposal of cases related to paper leaks. According to the Prime Minister, the concerned ministries, investigative agencies and authorities have been directed to take immediate steps to implement the decision.
Modi said the move was part of the government’s efforts to protect students’ interests and make the examination system more transparent and robust. He also warned that those who attempt to jeopardise the future of young people would not be spared.

However, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi strongly criticised the government following the Prime Minister’s announcement. He alleged that the government had weakened the education system over the past several years and failed to prevent examination irregularities or take effective action against those responsible.
Rahul Gandhi reiterated the demands of protesting students and called for the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He also demanded that the government apologise to students and take strict legal action against those allegedly responsible for violence against protesters.
He further claimed that more than 150 paper leak incidents had occurred across the country over the past decade, alleging that no one had been punished in any of the cases.
Meanwhile, the CJP also reacted to the Prime Minister’s announcement, saying that merely announcing fast-track courts was not enough. The organisation reiterated its demand for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The alleged NEET paper leak controversy has now evolved beyond student protests into a major political confrontation. While the government has promised reforms in the examination system and strict legal action against those involved in paper leaks, the Opposition and protesting organisations continue to hold the government responsible for the crisis.
Attention is now focused on how quickly the government implements its announcement, when the proposed fast-track courts will become operational and whether the measures will help restore students’ confidence in the examination system.
