Hyderabad: Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy has made a series of significant remarks on the Congress party’s functioning, calling for stronger discipline and immediate action against leaders who cross party lines.

Speaking during an informal interaction, Gutta said that if the party fails to take immediate action against those violating party discipline, it could suffer politically. He stressed that maintaining discipline within the Congress is essential for strengthening the organisation.

Gutta also called for a reduction in group rivalries within the party. He said internal differences and factionalism should be addressed to ensure better coordination among party leaders and workers.

The Council Chairman suggested that changes should be made in both the Cabinet and the government. He indicated that such changes could help improve the party’s functioning and address concerns among its cadre.

Gutta also raised several issues concerning welfare and farmers. He said pensions should be increased to ₹4,000 and that the Rythu Bharosa scheme should continue to support farmers.

He further called for the cancellation of 22A restrictions and suggested that the government reduce the burden of freebie-based schemes. At the same time, he stressed the need to ensure justice for those who participated in the Telangana statehood movement.

Addressing concerns within the party organisation, Gutta said dissatisfaction among the Congress cadre should be properly balanced and addressed. According to him, resolving the concerns of grassroots workers is important for strengthening the party ahead of future elections.

Gutta expressed confidence that if these issues are addressed and the party works in a coordinated manner, Congress can return to power.

His comments have triggered discussion within political circles, particularly his remarks on Cabinet changes, party discipline, internal groupism and the need to address dissatisfaction among the cadre.
