HANUMAKONDA: The drugs wing of the Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) seized medicines worth ₹7.89 lakh from an unlicensed godown at Srinivasanagar, near Kaloji Kalakshetram, Balasamudram, on November 6.

Acting on information, officials found that the premises were allegedly operated by B. Srujan Reddy through his employee, Hari Krishna, without a valid drug licence. The godown contained 22 varieties of medicines, including antibiotics, anti-ulcer drugs, cough suppressants, analgesics and antihistamines, stocked for sale. The seized stock was valued at ₹7,89,874.

The raid was conducted by drug inspectors J. Kiran Kumar of Hanumakonda, V. Upender of Warangal and P. Pavani of Bhupalpally, under Assistant Director Dr Rajyalakshmi. An investigation is underway, and authorities said action would be taken under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

In a similar incident in February 2025, officials raided an unlicensed godown at Uppal Khalsa in Medchal-Malkajgiri district and seized medicines worth ₹6.70 lakh, including six varieties of expired drugs. The detection of unauthorised medicine stocks highlights the need for strict licensing checks and inspections. Such enforcement is crucial to prevent unsafe or stored medicines from entering the market and endangering public health.
