Fake Blood Pressure Medicine Racket Busted in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad : The Ahmedabad Crime Branch, in coordination with the Food and Drugs Department, has busted a counterfeit medicine network allegedly involved in the circulation and sale of fake blood pressure medication in the city.
During the operation, authorities seized around 1,200 strips of counterfeit blood pressure medicine that were allegedly being distributed through the local market.
According to the investigation, around 15,000 fake blood pressure pills had already been sold in Ahmedabad. Police have arrested three people, including the owner of a medical store, in connection with the case.
The investigation has reportedly traced the supply of the counterfeit medicines to Lucknow, indicating that the operation may have involved an interstate supply chain.
Officials are now questioning the arrested suspects to determine where the fake medicines were sourced, who supplied them from Lucknow, and how they were distributed to medical stores in Ahmedabad.
The Food and Drugs Department is also examining the seized medicines to determine their composition, authenticity and potential health risks. Authorities are investigating whether other medical stores or distributors were involved in the network.
Police are expected to expand the investigation to identify the main suppliers and other members of the counterfeit medicine racket. Further arrests may follow based on the information obtained during the interrogation of the three accused.
