Hyderabad: 3 Mobile Snatchers Arrested in Kanchanbagh, 10 Phones and Bike Seized

Hyderabad Kanchanbagh Police arrest 3 mobile snatchers in DMRL X Road case, seize 10 phones and a bike. FIR 78/2026 registered under BNS.

In a major breakthrough, Kanchanbagh Police Station arrested three cell phone snatching offenders in connection with a mobile snatching case at DMRL X Road and seized 10 mobile phones and one Yamaha two-wheeler.

The case was registered based on a complaint by Syed Nazeer Ahmed (59), who reported that on April 15, 2026, at around 09:30 AM, his Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 mobile phone worth ₹30,000 was snatched near Jai Bhavani Tiffin Centre, DMRL X Road, Hyderabad.

How the Mobile Snatching Incident Happened in Hyderabad

According to police:

  • The victim had purchased a tiffin parcel from Jai Bhavani Tiffin Centre at 09:15 AM
  • While returning home, two unknown persons on a two-wheeler approached from behind
  • They snatched the mobile phone from his shirt pocket and fled

Following the complaint, FIR No. 78/2026 was registered under Section 304 BNS at Kanchanbagh Police Station, and an investigation was launched.

Accused Persons Arrested by Kanchanbagh Police

On April 19, 2026, police arrested three habitual offenders:

  • A-1: Ambata Naresh (36), pickles vendor / pickpocket, resident of Ashok Reddy Colony, Sri Vinayaka Nagar Colony, Nadergul, Hyderabad; native of Kapu Veedhi, Peddanadipalli, Chepurupalli, Vizianagaram District, Andhra Pradesh
  • A-2: Banala Arun Kumar (25), labour, resident of Chandergiri, Qutubullahpur, Jeedimetla
  • A-3: Mekala Chiranjeevi (33), pig farming, resident of YSR Nagar, Doone District, Andhra Pradesh

Police confirmed that all three are habitual offenders involved in multiple cases across various police stations.

Seized Property in Hyderabad Mobile Snatching Case

The following items were recovered:

  • 10 mobile phones
  • 1 Yamaha two-wheeler

These were seized from the possession of the accused in connection with Cr. No. 78/2026 under Sections 304 and 112 BNS.

Modus Operandi of the Mobile Snatching Gang

Police revealed the gang’s method:

  • A-1 targets elderly and distracted individuals
  • He approaches and distracts victims
  • Associates execute the snatching using a bike
  • A-2 and A-3 keep watch to ensure a smooth escape

On April 15, 2026, at around 09:00 AM, A-1 along with an associate Vasanth (absconding) identified the victim near the tiffin centre. While A-1 rode the bike, Vasanth snatched the phone, and the others assisted in the escape.

Investigation and Police Action

During interrogation, police identified the involvement of additional suspects, and special teams have been formed to trace absconding accused Vasanth and others.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of:

  • A. Sudhakar
  • J. Balaraju (SHO, Kanchanbagh)
  • K. Raju

The case was monitored by S. Sreenivas.

Accused Produced Before Court

Police confirmed that the arrested accused A-1 to A-3 have been produced before the Hon’ble Court for judicial remand. The investigation is ongoing to identify and arrest remaining suspects.
