Hyderabad: In a major development, HYDRAA has restored the historic Jagadgirigutta Koneru (temple pond) by removing encroachments and clearing accumulated waste in Jagadgirigutta, Hyderabad. The Hyderabad Jagadgirigutta Koneru encroachment removal drive was carried out after a viral appeal by temple priest Narahari.
- The pond, spread over approximately 1 acre, was illegally filled with मिट्टी and used for parking
- HYDRAA removed encroachments and cleared silt and waste
- About 26 truckloads of debris were shifted from the site
- The pond has now regained its original structure
HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath Takes Action
Following the viral video, A.V. Ranganath, Commissioner of HYDRAA, inspected the site and assured action.
- Immediate steps were initiated to protect the Koneru
- Encroachments were removed on Tuesday
- Restoration work has also been taken up
The move has been widely appreciated by residents and devotees.

Speaking on the development, priest Narahari said:
- “Our 22-year struggle has finally succeeded”
- He expressed gratitude to the government and HYDRAA officials
- He stated efforts will continue to maintain water levels in the pond, including using borewater if needed
