Mirchowk Police Bust Fake Certificate Racket, Arrest Abdul Rashed Khan; 15 Forged Educational Certificates Seized

Mirchowk Police arrested Abdul Rashed Khan in Crime No. 175/2026 after seizing 15 fake educational certificates, a Vivo mobile phone and a Suzuki Burgman scooter. Police suspect a large inter-state fake certificate racket linked to overseas jobs.

Hyderabad: The Mirchowk Police have arrested Abdul Rashed Khan (38) in a fake educational certificate racket after acting on credible information. The accused was apprehended at Etebar Chowk and found in possession of 15 fake educational certificates, one Vivo mobile phone and one Suzuki Burgman scooter. Police registered Crime No. 175/2026 under Sections 338 and 339 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Mirchowk Police Station. According to police, the accused allegedly sold forged educational certificates to people seeking overseas employment for illegal financial gain, while further investigation is underway to trace other absconding accused.

Mirchowk Police Register Crime No. 175/2026

Addressing a press conference, DCP Kiran Khare said the Mirchowk Police received credible information regarding fake educational certificates within the limits of Mirchowk Police Station.

Police immediately launched an operation and apprehended:

  • Abdul Rashed Khan, aged 38 years
  • Son of Abdul Razzaq Khan
  • Arrested at Etebar Chowk, Hyderabad

During the operation, police seized:

  • 15 fake educational certificates
  • One Vivo mobile phone
  • One Suzuki Burgman scooter

Based on the seizure, police registered Crime No. 175/2026 under Sections 338 and 339 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Mirchowk Police Station.

Police Suspect a Large Inter-State Fake Certificate Racket

DCP Kiran Khare said the investigation has revealed indications of a large inter-state fake educational certificate racket.

According to the investigation so far:

  • The 15 seized certificates include documents purportedly issued by institutions and colleges from different states.
  • Some certificates are allegedly related to Maharashtra colleges.
  • The forged documents include:
    • SSC (10th) certificates
    • Intermediate certificates
    • B.Sc. Degree certificates
    • BPT educational certificates
    • Master of Science and Technology certificates
    • Maharashtra State Board Class 10 and Class 12 certificates

Police said the certificates were allegedly prepared for people intending to secure jobs abroad.

Three Fake Certificates Recovered in the Names of Individuals

According to DCP Kiran Khare, police have so far recovered forged certificates prepared in the names of:

  • Aarti
  • Hukumat
  • Syed Rahman Ali

Police alleged that these fake certificates were prepared for the purpose of obtaining employment in Dubai and other foreign countries.

Accused Allegedly Collected Rs 30,000 Per Certificate

During the investigation, police found that Abdul Rashed Khan allegedly collected Rs 30,000 from each person seeking a fake certificate.

According to the DCP, the accused allegedly passed the money to the individuals involved in preparing the forged certificates.

Police did not disclose the names of the alleged certificate makers because the matter is still under investigation.

People From Hyderabad and Other States Under Scanner

DCP Kiran Khare said the investigation indicates that the racket was not limited to Hyderabad.

According to police:

  • People from Hyderabad as well as other states are suspected to be involved.
  • Educational institutions selected for Hyderabad candidates were mostly located outside Hyderabad.
  • Further action will be taken to expose the larger inter-state fake education certificate network.

Police said the racket mainly targeted candidates seeking employment abroad, particularly in Dubai.

The investigation has revealed that:

  • A person who had already obtained a fake certificate would introduce friends or relatives to the accused.
  • The racket expanded through such referrals.
  • Police have received information that around 25 people from Hyderabad and Saidabad had allegedly obtained fake certificates.
  • Several of them are suspected to have been sent abroad after obtaining forged educational documents.

Police said they are verifying whether the fake certificates were also used for local employment.

Investigation Finds Racket Active Since 2022

According to DCP Kiran Khare, the investigation has so far revealed that Abdul Rashed Khan had allegedly been involved in the fake certificate racket since 2022, operating for the last four years.

Police stated that only one accused has been arrested so far, while efforts are continuing to identify, trace and arrest the remaining members of the network.

Ongoing Investigation

Police reiterated that the investigation is continuing to identify:

  • The persons who prepared the forged certificates.
  • The beneficiaries who obtained the certificates.
  • The complete distribution network.
  • The role of suspects from Hyderabad and other states.
  • Whether the forged certificates were used only for overseas employment or also within India.

Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining absconding accused.
