Hyderabad: On Sunday, September 17, Tehreek Muslim Shaban, along with other parties, will commemorate the 1948 police action and honor Nizam-e-Deccan, Mir Osman Ali Khan, at Masjid-e-Judi, King Kothi, under the leadership of Tehreek Muslim Shaban President Muhammad Mushtaq Malik.
Paying homage, a wreath will be laid at the shrine of Nizam-e-Deccan, Asaf Jah Mir Osman sman Ali Khan. Prayers will be offered for the martyrs of the police action, which took place on September 17, 1948, leading to the merger of Hyderabad Deccan State into the Indian Union.
While peaceful integration was possible, the tragic loss of millions stained this event in history. The Deccan’s sectarian system has been mischaracterized, labeling loyalists as traitors and volunteers as criminals and murderers.
Every year on September 17, Tehreek Muslim Shaban observes “Yaad-e-Nizam-e-Deccan” to ensure the younger generation understands the history of police action. Mushtaq Malik, City Convenor Muslim Shaban has requested everyone to participate in this commemoration.
