125 ft Ambedkar Statue at Hussain Sagar Announced by SC Welfare Minister

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has instructed to complete the project at the earliest; In about a year or 15 months the statue of Ambedkar will be installed, the minister said.

Hyderabad: SC Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar said today that the government plans to erect a 125-foot-tall Ambedkar statue near Hussain Sagar in the city. The bids for this purpose have been finalised by the government. The State Government has set out Rs 100 crore for this initiative, which would witness the installation of the largest Ambedkar statue in the heart of Hyderabad. According to the Minister, the statue and accompanying buildings that will be built will explain Ambedkar’s grandeur and the constitution of India that he drafted.

The Minister with officials has made a visit to the site wherein the statue of constitution architect will be installed.
He further stated that as planned by the government the statue of Ambedkar with a 50 ft tall base of Parliament will be coming up. The statue was planned to be at 125 ft height to be coming up on the basement building of the 50 ft parliament structure. He directed the officials coordinate to set up the statue in time. We planned to complete the works of the same in one year or 15 months, he added. (NSS)
