In Hyderabad, the Telangana State Cabinet has approved a series of major decisions including handing over the probe into alleged irregularities in power purchases and Bhadadri and Yadadri thermal power projects to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), revising land prices, approving solar projects worth ₹66.50 crore, and several development measures. The decisions were taken after reviewing reports and are currently under implementation.

CBI Probe Approved into Power Purchase and Thermal Project Irregularities

The Cabinet approved handing over the inquiry report related to alleged irregularities in electricity purchases and the Bhadadri Thermal Power Project and Yadadri Thermal Power Project to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

  • Inquiry Commission formed on March 14, 2024 under Commissions of Inquiry Act
  • Headed initially by retired Justice L. Narasimha Reddy
  • As per Supreme Court orders, he stepped down in July 2024
  • Justice Madan B. Lokur appointed thereafter
  • Commission submitted 114-page report in October 2024
  • Cabinet on January 4, 2025 decided to seek Advocate General’s opinion
  • Based on recommendations, Cabinet decided to hand over probe to CBI

The decision was taken as the case involves inter-state aspects and central public sector units. Officials have been directed to speed up further process. The investigation will be conducted by CBI.

Land Price Revision and Market Value Rationalisation Approved

The Cabinet approved revision of land prices across the state.

Key points:

  • Large variations observed between government rates and market prices
  • Registration Department authorised to rationalise market values
  • Revised land values to come into effect by the end of this month

The decision aims to address dissatisfaction among displaced persons affected by projects, road expansions, and development works who sought higher compensation.

District-level market value revision committees will revise prices using scientific methods.

HILT Policy Relief: 10% Payment Option Approved

The Cabinet approved a relaxation under the HILT policy:

  • Applicants can pay 10% initially
  • Remaining 90% to be paid within 90 days
  • Existing land prices will apply for such applicants

Crop Damage Due to Untimely Rains, CM Orders Action

The Cabinet noted that crops and agricultural produce were damaged due to unseasonal rains in several districts.

Directions issued:

  • District in-charge ministers to collect reports
  • Immediate steps to support farmers

NARMAC to Be Handed Over to NDDB

The Cabinet approved signing an MoU to hand over Nalgonda-Ranga Reddy Milk Producers Mutually Aided Cooperative Union Limited to the National Dairy Development Board.

Under this:

  • NDDB will manage dairy plant operations
  • Processing and marketing of milk and milk products will be handled by NDDB

Solar Power Projects Worth ₹66.50 Crore Approved

The Cabinet approved solar power generation projects in Telangana.

Details:

  • Solar plants at 33/11 KV substations in 9 districts
  • Pilot implementation at 18 locations
  • Project cost: ₹66.50 crore
  • Capacity: 19 megawatts

One-Time Settlement for Government Dues in Municipal Bodies

The Cabinet approved a One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme for pending dues in Greater Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Malkajgiri municipal corporations.

Key figures:

  • Total dues: ₹5864 crore
  • Expected recovery through OTS: ₹1686 crore
  • Penalties and interest to be waived

The Municipal Department was instructed to implement OTS across all municipalities. Water dues to Hyderabad Water Board will also be adjusted.

Irrigation Project Approved in Khammam District

The Cabinet approved construction of a left flood flow canal from Bugga Vagu at Kamepalli.

This project will:

  • Supply water to minor irrigation tanks
  • Benefit Khammam district

ITIs, Polytechnics to Be Brought Under Skill University

The Cabinet decided to bring all ITIs (Advanced Training Centres), polytechnics, and T-SAT under the Young India Skill University.

Officials were directed to prepare an action plan.

Land Allocation for Modern Vegetable Market in Rangareddy

The Cabinet approved allocation of 42 acres of land at Aziz Nagar in Rangareddy district for setting up a modern vegetable market.
