Hyderabad: Tension prevailed under the limits of Asif Nagar Police Station after a group of self-styled Gau Rakshaks stopped a plywood-loaded lorry near Royal Sea Hotel suspecting that cows were being illegally transported in the vehicle. The situation later intensified near Pillar Number 65 close to Ankura Hospital following protests, alleged stone pelting, and police intervention. AIMIM MLA Majid Hussain reached the spot and questioned the police handling of the incident.

According to reports, the incident occurred in the Asif Nagar area when the self-styled Gau Rakshaks intercepted a lorry carrying plywood after suspecting that animals were being transported inside it.

Police Shift Lorry Amid Rising Tension

After receiving information, officials from Asif Nagar Police Station reached the location and attempted to control the situation.

Police reportedly informed those present that an enquiry would be conducted into the matter. As part of efforts to ease tensions, the plywood-loaded lorry was shifted near Pillar Number 65 close to Ankura Hospital.

However, tension continued at the second location as some protesters allegedly attacked the vehicle and threw stones.

AIMIM MLA Majid Hussain Reaches Spot

Majid Hussain, MLA from Nampally, later arrived at the spot after attending a programme elsewhere in the city.

According to local reports, Majid Hussain accompanied the lorry from the protest site towards the police station area and demanded that police inspect the vehicle to verify whether it contained animals or only plywood.

He also interacted with senior police officials present at the scene and sought strict action against those allegedly attempting to disturb law and order and communal harmony.

Local residents reportedly appreciated the MLA’s intervention during the tense situation.

Majid Hussain Questions Police Response

While speaking to the media, Majid Hussain questioned the police response to the incident.

He stated that if the vehicle was carrying plywood, police should have verified the contents immediately and resolved the matter before the situation escalated further.

Majid Hussain also urged senior police officials to open communal rowdy sheets against those allegedly involved in creating tension.

Police Use Mild Force to Disperse Crowd

To prevent further escalation, police reportedly used mild force to disperse the crowd gathered at the location.

Additional police personnel were deployed in the area, and officials later brought the situation under control.
