Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday released ₹2,482.02 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme for 41.37 lakh farmers during the Rythu Bharosa Conference held at Shilpakala Vedika, Hyderabad. The Chief Minister launched the fund transfer by pressing a computer button and announced that the government aims to release ₹9,000 crore over the next nine days. He also outlined the government’s spending on agriculture, loan waivers, crop bonuses, insurance, paddy procurement, employment, and financial reforms while addressing farmers across the state.

Revanth Reddy Releases Rythu Bharosa Funds
Calling it a festival day for Telangana farmers, the Chief Minister said the Congress government had fulfilled its promise by releasing Rythu Bharosa investment assistance.
As the first installment, the government released ₹2,482.02 crore to facilitate the transfer of funds into the bank accounts of 41.37 lakh farmers.
He said the government is committed to releasing ₹9,000 crore within the next nine days.
The programme was viewed by farmers through nearly 1,600 Rythu Vedikas across Telangana.

CM Highlights 30 Months of Governance
Addressing farmers, Revanth Reddy said the government has been working for the past 30 months to rebuild the state and move it towards development.
He said the government’s objective is to make agriculture a celebration and highlighted its expenditure on the agriculture sector.
According to the Chief Minister:
- ₹1.75 lakh crore has been spent on agriculture during the last 30 months.
- Within the first year of the government, ₹20,677 crore in crop loans of up to ₹2 lakh each was waived for 25.35 lakh farmers.
- ₹7,000 crore in pending Rythu Bharosa dues left by the previous government was cleared.
- Rythu Bharosa assistance was increased from ₹10,000 to ₹12,000.
- More than ₹27,000 crore has already been credited to farmers’ accounts under the scheme.
- With the latest release, the government said it has paid ₹36,000 crore under Rythu Bharosa.
Agriculture Spending, Bonus and Insurance
The Chief Minister further stated that the government has paid:
- ₹4,000 crore as crop bonus.
- ₹2,000 crore for agricultural equipment.
- ₹3,500 crore towards crop insurance.
He also said that during the last two and a half years, the government paid more than ₹80,000 crore for paddy procurement.
According to him, while the previous government spent ₹1.6 lakh crore on agriculture over 10 years, the present government spent ₹1.75 lakh crore in just 30 months, averaging ₹6,000 crore per month. He alleged that the previous government did not even spend ₹2,000 crore per month on agriculture.
Government Ready for Assembly Debate
Revanth Reddy said the government is ready to discuss its work over the last 30 months on the floor of the Assembly.
He stated that the government has been overcoming several challenges since assuming office and has been providing solutions.
CM on State Debt and Financial Situation
The Chief Minister said:
- The combined Andhra Pradesh governments accumulated ₹69,000 crore in debt over six decades.
- Telangana had ₹69,000 crore in debt at the time of state formation.
- From 2014 until the formation of the present government, the state’s debt increased to ₹8.11 lakh crore.
He alleged that Telangana, which was handed over as a wealthy state, was pushed into a debt trap.
He said that immediately after assuming office, the government released a White Paper in the Assembly explaining the state’s financial position.
Salaries and Employee Welfare
The Chief Minister said the government inherited a situation where salaries of employees were being paid in installments.
He stated that the present government is ensuring salaries are paid on the first day of every month, despite financial challenges.
He also said the retirement age had earlier been increased because retirement benefits could not be paid, resulting in an additional burden of ₹1,000 crore for employees retiring now.
He alleged that debts had accumulated in Singareni, RTC, and the power sector.
RTC, Women’s Welfare and Employment
Revanth Reddy said the government has:
- Put the debt-ridden RTC back on the path to profitability.
- Paid ₹11,000 crore to RTC.
- Introduced free bus travel for women.
- Handed over 1,000 buses to women’s Self-Help Groups, making them owners.
- Constructed buildings for women’s Self-Help Groups in districts.
He also said that while many youths sacrificed their lives seeking jobs, the present government has filled 70,000 government vacancies.
CM Defends Government’s Transparency
The Chief Minister said some people advised him not to speak about certain issues, but he would continue to tell the truth.
He stated:
“I will say things as they are. I will say only what exists. I will say what I will do. I will do what I say. I will speak frankly. Once I give my word, I will stand by it. This government cannot run on the foundation of lies.”
Farmers Advised to Be Alert Over Weather
Referring to current weather conditions, Revanth Reddy cautioned farmers that scientists have predicted reduced rainfall due to the El Niño effect and possible drought conditions.
He urged farmers to adopt crop diversification, saying the government understands farmers’ hardships and wants them to remain alert despite criticism from some quarters.
He added that it would take some more time for the state to fully recover but said the government belongs to the people, women, unemployed youth and farmers. He called upon farmers to protect the government and extended his greetings to them on the release of the Rythu Bharosa funds.
