The Telangana Government distributed 361 2BHK house pattas and house keys to eligible beneficiaries in Hyderabad on Sunday, with Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar reaffirming the government’s commitment to construct 1 lakh Indiramma Houses in Hyderabad. He said the government’s goal is to provide permanent and dignified housing to eligible poor families and ensure that houses are built in the same areas where people earn their livelihood.

The house pattas were distributed at the Hyderabad District Collectorate meeting hall in the presence of Minorities Welfare and Public Sector Enterprises Minister Mohammed Azharuddin, Government Whip Addanki Dayakar, MLAs Akbaruddin Owaisi and Majid Hussain, and Hyderabad District Collector Dr. Priyanka Ala.
Government’s Goal is Permanent Housing for Every Eligible Poor Family
Speaking on the occasion, Ponnam Prabhakar said the Telangana Government aims to provide a permanent and respectable home to every eligible poor and underprivileged family.
He said the government is moving forward with a planned approach to construct houses for poor people engaged in various occupations across Hyderabad in the same localities where they work, instead of relocating them to distant areas.
The minister acknowledged the hardships faced by beneficiaries who had waited for houses over the past 10 years. As a representative of the government, he expressed regret over the delay and assured that such delays in implementing welfare schemes for eligible poor families would not happen in the future.
Congratulating the beneficiaries, he described the distribution of house pattas as a historic occasion that fulfilled the long-awaited dream of many poor families.
1 Lakh Indiramma Houses Planned in Hyderabad
Ponnam Prabhakar said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the government has designed its housing policy keeping the livelihoods of poor families in mind.
He stated that the government has decided to use valuable government land to build houses in the same areas where beneficiaries are employed, rather than shifting them away from their workplaces.
The minister reiterated that the government has launched an action plan to construct 1 lakh Indiramma Houses in Hyderabad.
Welfare Schemes Being Implemented Alongside Housing
The minister said that ration cards have been issued to all eligible families. He added that the government has introduced a system to issue ration cards within 48 hours of receiving applications from eligible persons.
He also highlighted other welfare initiatives, including:
- Distribution of quality fine rice through ration cards.
- 200 units of free electricity for eligible families.
- Effective implementation of welfare schemes for poor households.
Women’s Empowerment and Employment Focus
Ponnam Prabhakar said the government is giving top priority to women’s economic empowerment. He appealed to women in Hyderabad to increase membership in Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
He said the government is providing:
- Interest-free loans for women.
- Self-employment opportunities.
- Free bus travel for women, enabling easier access to education, employment, family responsibilities, and places of worship.
The minister also said the government is paying special attention to creating employment opportunities for unemployed youth and that recruitment to vacant posts in various departments is underway.
Survey Ordered for Old Government Housing Complexes
The minister directed Hyderabad District Collector Dr. Priyanka Ala to conduct a comprehensive survey of old government housing complexes in Hyderabad, including:
- Old Government Housing Colonies
- VAMBAY Housing
- JNNURM Housing
- Other similar housing schemes
He instructed that buildings should be classified into three categories:
- Buildings that are unsafe for habitation and should be vacated immediately.
- Buildings that can be repaired and restored.
- Buildings that are completely dilapidated and should be demolished and reconstructed.
He asked the Collector to prepare a detailed report accordingly.
Mohammed Azharuddin Calls Housing a Symbol of Social Justice
Minorities Welfare and Public Sector Enterprises Minister Mohammed Azharuddin said providing permanent housing to poor families is a symbol of social justice.
He said houses are being distributed transparently to every eligible poor family and praised the government’s decision to construct homes within the city so that beneficiaries’ livelihoods are not affected.
He added that the government would always stand by the people in implementing welfare schemes.
Collector Shares Distribution Details
Earlier, Hyderabad District Collector Dr. Priyanka Ala informed the ministers that a total of 361 houses were being distributed along with pattas and keys.
The allocations include:
- 187 houses for beneficiaries from Bandlaguda Mandal in Chandrayangutta Assembly Constituency.
- 79 houses for beneficiaries from Asif Nagar Mandal in Nampally Assembly Constituency.
- 95 houses for beneficiaries from Nacharam Colony.

On the occasion, Government Whip Addanki Dayakar and MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi congratulated the beneficiaries and appreciated the government’s housing distribution programme.
