CM Revanth Reddy Orders Special Traffic Management and Road Safety Bureau, Reviews Smart Signalling Plan

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to establish a special bureau for Traffic Management and Road Safety to strengthen traffic regulation and road safety monitoring across the state. During a high-level review meeting held at the Bodhi Pavilion, MCR HRD, the Chief Minister instructed officials to develop an institutional framework for the bureau, conduct regular traffic reviews, and prepare scientific traffic management plans. The proposal is currently under official review.

Reviewing Traffic Management and Road Safety in Telangana, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy instructed officials to establish a dedicated bureau to monitor traffic management and road safety across the state.

He said the proposed bureau should have a proper institutional structure after carrying out a comprehensive study of the state’s transport system and traffic management requirements.

Review Meeting Held at Bodhi Pavilion, MCR HRD

The Chief Minister chaired a high-level review meeting on Traffic Management and Road Safety at the Bodhi Pavilion, MCR HRD.

During the meeting, he directed officials to conduct a review of traffic regulation measures every two or three months to ensure continuous monitoring and improvement.

Focus on Traffic Regulation Instead of Rules Alone

The Chief Minister instructed officials to focus more on systematic traffic regulation rather than only enforcing traffic rules.

He asked officials to prepare traffic management plans by considering:

  • Changes in weather conditions
  • Office working hours
  • Peak traffic hours
  • Local culture and travel patterns

Scientific Study Before New Infrastructure

Revanth Reddy directed that a traffic study should be conducted before creating new infrastructure.

He also instructed officials to strengthen preventive measures to reduce accidents on the Outer Ring Road (ORR).

The Chief Minister ordered continuous monitoring to prevent motorists from stopping vehicles indiscriminately on the ORR.

Smart Signalling and Signal-Free Corridors

The Chief Minister asked officials to carry out a comprehensive study on implementing a Smart Signalling System in the city.

He said that wherever necessary, the government should construct:

  • Underpasses
  • Elevated corridors

to develop a signal-free traffic system.

He further instructed officials to ensure that, as far as possible, vehicles move continuously without unnecessary stoppages at traffic signals.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to establish a special Traffic Management and Road Safety Bureau in Telangana with an institutional framework to improve traffic regulation and road safety monitoring.
