The latest direction has been issued in the interest of public safety and security and puts the focus on late-night operations in the Rajendranagar area.
Earlier permission allowed operations till 1 am
The new midnight deadline, however, comes against the backdrop of an earlier Hyderabad Police order that permitted hotels, restaurants, dhabas and pan shops to operate until 1 am.
In September 2024, then Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand issued revised timings allowing eateries, including pan shops, to remain open until 1 am. The order also prescribed separate timings for other shops and establishments.
This has led to a need for clarity on whether the latest Rajendranagar direction changes or supersedes the earlier permission, particularly for hotels and pan shops that had been allowed to operate until 1 am.
Recent police checks
Hyderabad Police have continued night-time checks in the city. During Operation Kavach in June 2026, police inspected 562 hotels and lodges between 11 pm and 1 am, including 53 establishments in Rajendranagar.
The latest Rajendranagar announcement specifically mentions the 12 midnight deadline and warns of police action against establishments found violating it.
Whether the new direction is a local enforcement measure for Rajendranagar or a broader change in the applicable timings remains a point requiring clarification from the police authorities.
