Daily Coal Production and Transportation of 1.90 Lakh Tonnes Has to Be Achieved

SCCL CMD Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti Directs General Managers of All Areas

Hyderabad : In view of the growing demand for electricity and to ensure adequate coal supply to thermal power stations having Fuel Supply Agreements, SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti directed the General Managers of all Areas to ensure that daily coal production and transportation of 1.90 lakh tonnes has to be achieved.

SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti held a special review meeting on coal production with the Directors of the Company and General Managers of all Singareni Areas at Singareni Bhavan, Hyderabad, on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that electricity consumption has increased significantly across the country. In this context, the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Coal, Government of India, and the State Energy Department are conducting reviews and setting targets to ensure adequate coal supply to thermal power stations. He directed the General Managers of all Areas to make all-out efforts to enhance coal production and transportation, as government coal-producing companies have the responsibility of ensuring adequate coal supply in the interest of the country’s energy security. He reviewed the Area-wise targets allotted so far and the progress achieved.

Officials informed that as of August 31, five months of the current financial year had been completed and SCCL had transported 253 lakh tonnes of coal, of which more than 90 per cent was supplied to thermal power stations. The CMD directed the General Managers of all Areas to formulate appropriate plans to achieve the targets allotted to them.

He informed that the first railway rake of coal from the Naini Coal Mine was supplied to the Singareni Thermal Power Station. Recently, another rake was supplied to the Yadadri Thermal Power Station at Damaracherla as per the directions of the State Government. He stated that henceforth also, priority would be accorded to meeting the power requirements of the State and coal from the Naini Block would be supplied to the State’s thermal power stations.

The CMD also reviewed overburden removal along with coal production and transportation. Officials informed that 1,315 lakh cubic metres of OB had been removed through offloading up to the end of August. However, as this accounted for only 95 per cent of the target, he directed the officials to take steps to increase overburden removal and ensure achievement of more than 100 per cent of the target.

As the rains have completely receded and the conditions are favourable for production, he directed the officials to achieve coal production beyond the daily targets. He also directed them to coordinate with the Railway Department and achieve more than 100 per cent coal transportation.

He advised all concerned, from senior officials to field-level personnel, to make collective efforts to supply quality coal while adhering to safety standards. Director (Operations) Shri L. V. Srinivas, Corporate General Managers and General Managers of all Singareni Areas were present at the review meeting.
