GHMC Removes 283 Encroachments in One Day Across Hyderabad; Total Crosses 2,620 Since April 4

GHMC removed 283 encroachments, including 79 permanent and 204 temporary structures, during a special drive in Hyderabad. A total of 2,620 encroachments have been cleared since April 4, 2026.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) conducted a special city-wide drive against encroachments on footpaths and road margins to maintain encroachment-free roads, improve pedestrian safety, ensure smooth traffic flow, and enhance urban mobility.

The special drive was carried out in coordination with the Traffic Police and Law & Order Police across Hyderabad on 20.06.2026.

According to GHMC, a total of 283 encroachments were removed during the drive, including 79 permanent encroachments and 204 temporary encroachments.

Encroachment Removal Drive Conducted in Five Areas

The GHMC special drive was conducted in the following locations:

  • Shamshabad
  • Moosarambagh
  • Golconda
  • Khairatabad
  • Amberpet

The operation focused on major road stretches and footpaths to improve accessibility and remove obstructions affecting pedestrians and motorists.

GHMC Mobilized Staff from All Circles

The drive was carried out according to a zone-wise schedule by mobilizing staff from all GHMC circles.

The operation was monitored by:

  • GHMC Commissioner
  • Chief City Planner
  • Zonal Commissioners
  • Deputy Commissioners
  • Officials from Town Planning Department
  • Officials from other GHMC wings

GHMC stated that the coordinated effort was aimed at ensuring systematic removal of encroachments from public spaces.

2,620 Encroachments Removed Since April 4

GHMC said that since 04.04.2026, it has removed a total of 2,620 encroachments through special drives conducted across its jurisdiction.

The civic body stated that the initiative forms part of its ongoing efforts to create safer, accessible, and obstruction-free public spaces throughout Hyderabad.

GHMC Appeals to Citizens and Shopkeepers

GHMC appealed to citizens and shopkeepers not to encroach upon footpaths and road margins.

The civic body emphasized that public spaces should remain accessible to pedestrians and free from obstructions that affect traffic movement and urban mobility.

GHMC also announced that similar special drives will continue across the city.

Current Status

The special encroachment removal drive was successfully completed on 20.06.2026 in Shamshabad, Moosarambagh, Golconda, Khairatabad, and Amberpet. GHMC has stated that similar drives will continue in other parts of Hyderabad to ensure encroachment-free public spaces.
