Hyderabad: In a major crackdown, HYDRAA carried out operations against illegal crushing units in Ranga Reddy district on Tuesday, demolishing 8 crushing units and 3 out of 13 unauthorised RMC (Ready Mix Concrete) plants in a single day. The action was taken following complaints from the Pollution Control Board (PCB), Mining, and Revenue Departments. The remaining 10 RMC plants are yet to be removed, and the operation is ongoing.

HYDRAA Crackdown on Illegal Crushing Units

HYDRAA launched operations against unauthorised crushing units operating for years in multiple locations.

The demolition drive was conducted in the presence of officials from:

  • Pollution Control Board (PCB)
  • Mining Department
  • Revenue Department

The operation covered the following areas in Ranga Reddy district:

  • Gowlidoddi
  • Vattinagulapally
  • Gopanpally
  • Kotwalguda in Shamshabad

Officials confirmed that none of the crushing units had required permissions from Mining or PCB authorities.

8 Crushing Units and 3 RMC Plants Demolished

During Tuesday’s operation:

  • 8 illegal crushing units were demolished
  • Out of 13 RMC plants, 3 were removed
  • 10 RMC plants are still pending removal

The action was taken as these units ignored:

  • PCB notices
  • Revenue Department orders
  • Mining Department objections

HYDRAA deployed machinery and manpower as requested by the departments to carry out the demolition.

Environmental Damage and Pollution Concerns

According to complaints filed by PCB, Mining, and Revenue departments:

  • Natural hills resembling forest landscapes were destroyed without permission
  • Continuous crushing operations caused severe air pollution
  • Activities were carried out day and night

It was noted that all these activities were happening within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits, raising serious environmental concerns.

Major Units Demolished

The crackdown included several units allegedly operating under benami names with backing from influential entities.

The demolished units include:

  • Bhagat Singh Stone Crusher
  • SVK
  • Parameshwar Stone
  • Prithvi
  • Great India Mining
  • R Miller
  • Tirumala Metal Industry

Also, unauthorised RMC plants belonging to:

  • BSR
  • UltraTech
  • ACC Ready Mix

were removed during the operation.

Land Use Violations in Kotwalguda

In Kotwalguda of Shamshabad mandal:

  • Illegal operations spread across nearly 16 acres
  • About 7 acres of hills were completely destroyed

A crushing unit belonging to Tirumala Metal Industry was operating at the site and was completely removed. Two additional RMC plants in the same area were also demolished.

Officials stated that:

  • No clear ownership details were available
  • Lease details were not properly recorded
  • Units were allegedly run under benami names with support from large entities

Officials and Public Response

Authorities from PCB, Mining, and Revenue departments confirmed the violations and supported the operation.

The crackdown by HYDRAA was appreciated for:

  • Preventing further environmental destruction
  • Acting against illegal mining and pollution
