Local Runners Shine at Ageas Federal Life Insurance Kochi Spice Coast Marathon 2023
In a remarkable display of strategic prowess, Jose Ellickal, hailing from Wayanad, Kerala, dominated the Men's Full Marathon category from start to finish.
Kochi: The Ageas Federal Life Insurance Kochi Spice Coast Marathon 2023 celebrated extraordinary achievements by local athletes, with Jose Ellickal from Kerala and Trupti Katkar Chavan from Maharashtra securing the coveted Full Marathon titles on a stunning Sunday morning.
In a remarkable display of strategic prowess, Jose Ellickal, hailing from Wayanad, Kerala, dominated the Men’s Full Marathon category from start to finish, completing the grueling race in a commendable time of 03:02:55. His exceptional performance fended off stiff competition, as Benson CB (03:05:34) and Sujith TR (03:14:33) claimed the second and third positions, respectively.
Meanwhile, in the Women’s Full Marathon, Trupti Katkar Chavan, representing Maharashtra, delivered an unrivaled performance, maintaining a comfortable lead throughout the race. Her impressive finish time of 04:31:55 left her competitors trailing far behind. Shyma I K (05:02:09) and Shinomol Palathana (05:09:33) secured the second and third positions in the Women’s category.
The Ageas Federal Life Insurance Kochi Spice Coast Marathon, hosted by Soles of India, is celebrated as one of the nation’s leading Green Marathons, focusing on environmentally responsible practices such as waste reduction, recycling, reusing, and repurposing.
Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, the Brand Ambassador of Ageas Federal Life Insurance, praised the event and its sponsors for their commitment to an eco-friendly cause. “This is easily the most scenic marathon, and I am proud to be associated with it. It’s amazing that close to 7,000 runners across all age groups are participating in the event with the determination to Run Ageless, Run Fearless,” said Tendulkar while flagging off the event.

In the Half-Marathon events, victory was secured by Sajith KM (01:21:49) in the Men’s category and Rema AK (02:01:25) in the Women’s category. David Cowlishaw (01:25:26) and Athul Raj (01:27:40) closely followed Sajith in the Men’s competition, while Sreedevi KC (02:07:41) and Zoja Ziya Z (02:11:18) stood out among the women.
The event drew runners and spectators from across the nation, promoting a healthy lifestyle and environmental awareness.
