Petrol, Diesel Prices Surge Across India: Hyderabad Tops Fuel Rate List, Delhi Below Rs 100

Petrol and diesel prices were increased across several Indian cities on May 15 following the latest fuel price revision by oil marketing companies amid rising global crude oil prices and supply concerns linked to the ongoing West Asia crisis. Hyderabad recorded the highest petrol price among major Indian cities, with petrol rates rising by Rs 3.39 to Rs 110.89 per litre. Diesel prices also witnessed a sharp increase across the country, while Delhi continued to maintain petrol prices below the Rs 100 mark.

Hyderabad Records Highest Petrol Price in India

According to the latest fuel price revision data released by oil marketing companies, Hyderabad became the costliest major city for petrol in India.

Petrol prices in the Telangana capital increased by Rs 3.39, taking the retail price to Rs 110.89 per litre.

The latest increase comes amid rising global crude oil prices and supply concerns caused by the ongoing crisis in West Asia, which has reportedly increased operational costs for oil marketing companies.

Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata Among Costliest Petrol Markets

Thiruvananthapuram emerged as the second most expensive city for petrol after prices rose by Rs 3.37 to Rs 110.75 per litre.

Kolkata ranked third, where petrol prices climbed by Rs 3.29 to reach Rs 108.74 per litre.

Patna also witnessed a major rise in fuel prices, with petrol rates increasing by Rs 3.01 to Rs 108.55 per litre.

Jaipur completed the top five list as petrol prices surged by Rs 3.16 to Rs 108.19 per litre.

Mumbai also crossed the Rs 106 mark, with petrol retailing at Rs 106.64 per litre after the latest revision.

Diesel Prices Rise Sharply Across Major Cities

Diesel prices also saw a significant increase across India.

Thiruvananthapuram recorded the highest diesel rate in the country at Rs 99.63 per litre after a Rs 3.37 hike, bringing diesel prices close to the Rs 100 mark.

Hyderabad followed with diesel prices increasing by Rs 3.26 to Rs 98.96 per litre.

Bhubaneswar became the third most expensive diesel market, where diesel prices rose by Rs 3.56 to Rs 96.11 per litre.

In Chennai, diesel prices increased to Rs 95.47 per litre, while Kolkata recorded diesel prices at Rs 95.13 per litre after the latest hike.

Delhi Fuel Prices Remain Relatively Lower

Compared to several metro cities, Delhi continued to maintain relatively lower fuel prices even after the latest revision.

Petrol in the national capital was priced at Rs 97.77 per litre, while diesel was retailing at Rs 90.67 per litre.

West Asia Crisis Behind Latest Fuel Price Increase

The latest fuel price hike comes amid continued volatility in international crude oil markets and concerns over fuel supply disruptions linked to the West Asia crisis.

Oil marketing companies are reportedly facing increased procurement and operational costs, resulting in higher petrol and diesel prices across several cities including Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata, Patna, Jaipur, Mumbai, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, and Delhi.
