PoP Idols Immersion: Telangana Govt SLP Hearing in SC on Sep 16
According to sources, the government will engage a senior counsel to make a mention of the matter before the Chief Justice's Bench.
Hyderabad: The Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed in the Supreme Court on Tuesday by the Telangana government challenging the state High Court order banning the immersion of Plaster of Paris (PoP) Ganesh idols in Hussainsagar and other lakes has been listed for hearing on Thursday.
According to sources, the government will engage a senior counsel to make a mention of the matter before the Chief Justice’s Bench and once the CJ Bench allots the matter to a specific judge, the contentions of the government and the respondents will be heard before passing an interim order.
The Telangana High Court, it may be mentioned, had passed on September nine an Order imposing a ban on the immersion of PoP Ganesh idols in Hussainsagar lake, which attracts multitudes from different parts of the state.
