Secunderabad Railway Station Skywalk Plan: 120-Metre Link to Connect Metro, Bus and Rail Under Amrit Bharat Scheme

Secunderabad Railway Station to get 120m skywalk connecting metro, bus, and rail. Work pending due to RTC NOC delay.

A 120-metre skywalk is planned near Secunderabad Railway Station to directly connect the metro, bus station, and railway station as part of modernization under the Amrit Bharat Scheme. The project aims to solve traffic issues and improve commuter connectivity. However, the work is yet to begin as No Objection Certificate (NOC) from RTC is pending, and discussions are ongoing.

Skywalk to Improve Connectivity at Secunderabad Railway Station

The proposed skywalk will provide seamless connectivity between:

  • Metro station
  • Bus station
  • Railway station

Officials stated that:

  • Passengers can directly reach the railway station after getting down from the metro
  • Railway passengers can use the skywalk to reach the metro station or bus stop easily

This project is part of the modernization of Secunderabad Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Scheme.

120-Metre Skywalk Planned, HMR Approves Project

The Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) has given approval for the construction of the skywalk.

Key details:

  • Length: 120 meters
  • Location: Near Secunderabad Railway Station, behind Rethifile City Bus Station
  • Purpose: Multimodal connectivity

Currently, passengers have to walk nearly half a kilometre from Secunderabad East Metro Station to reach the railway station. The skywalk aims to eliminate this inconvenience.

RTC NOC Pending, Work Yet to Begin

Despite approvals, the project is delayed due to pending permission:

  • RTC No Objection Certificate (NOC) is required
  • Railways are waiting for RTC approval
  • Several meetings have been held, but no clearance yet

Construction will begin only after receiving the required permission.

Kacheguda Railway Station Modernization Also Delayed

The modernization of Kacheguda Railway Station is also facing delays.

Railways have requested:

  • 2.77 acres of land from Kacheguda bus depot
  • Relocation of the bus depot to another place

In exchange, Railways proposed to provide land, but RTC has not responded so far.

Talks Ongoing with Telangana Government

The Railways is in discussions with the Telangana government regarding RTC land issues.

Officials stated that:

  • Work on both Secunderabad and Kacheguda projects will progress after approvals
  • Once completed, passengers will get improved facilities and better connectivity

A 120-metre skywalk is planned near Secunderabad Railway Station to connect metro, bus, and rail services under the Amrit Bharat Scheme. While the project promises to ease commuter movement and reduce walking distance, construction is pending due to lack of RTC NOC. With discussions ongoing, the project’s progress depends on approvals from RTC and the Telangana government.
