Sultan Bazar Police Arrest Previous Offender in ₹5.50 Lakh Servant Theft, Recover ₹5,04,900 Cash

Hyderabad Sultan Bazar Police arrested previous offender Kuthadi Hari Kumar in a ₹5.50 lakh servant theft case, recovering ₹5,04,900 cash, mobile phones, and a Scorpio car key after his arrest at Shadnagar Bus Stand.

The Sultan Bazar Police under the Khairatabad Zone have arrested Kuthadi Hari Kumar (33), a previous offender, in connection with a grave servant theft involving the theft of ₹5,50,000 from his employer’s car. The incident took place on July 9, 2026, at Bank Street, Koti, and police recovered net cash of ₹5,04,900, along with other property, after apprehending the accused at the Shadnagar Bus Stand. The case was registered as Cr. No. 224/2026 under Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Servant Theft Case at Bank Street, Koti

According to the police, the accused has been identified as:

  • Name: Kuthadi Hari Kumar
  • Father’s Name: Kuthadi Jangaiah
  • Age: 33 years
  • Native Place: Chowdoor Village, Nawabpet Mandal, Mahaboobnagar District

Police said the accused was employed as a driver by businessman Dayaram Prajapat.

On July 9, 2026, while the complainant was shopping at Bank Street, Koti, the accused allegedly retained the vehicle keys, stole a backpack containing net cash of ₹5,50,000 from the employer’s car, and fled to Kurnool.

Police registered the case as Cr. No. 224/2026 under Section 306 BNS.

Motive Behind the Theft

According to the police, the accused allegedly held a grudge against his employer because of financial stress and what he perceived as inadequate compensation. Police stated that this motivated him to commit the theft.

Accused Arrested at Shadnagar Bus Stand

Acting on credible intelligence and technical evidence, the police team traced and apprehended Kuthadi Hari Kumar at the Shadnagar Bus Stand.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to the offence. Based on his confession, police recovered:

  • Net cash of ₹5,04,900
  • Two mobile phones purchased using the stolen money
  • One mobile phone belonging to the accused
  • The Scorpio car key

Criminal Background of the Accused

Police stated that the accused has the following criminal history:

  1. Cr. No. 10/2010 under Sections 324 read with 34 IPC of Nawabpet Police Station, registered when the accused was 17 years old.
  2. Cr. No. 201/2015 under Sections 302 and 379 IPC of Wanaparthy Police Station, in which the accused was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. Police stated that the Hon’ble High Court later modified the sentence to Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) for two years.
  3. Cr. No. 676/2024 under Section 224 IPC of Shadnagar Police Station, for escaping from judicial custody while on furlough.

The press note was issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Khairatabad Zone, Hyderabad City.
