Telangana Cabinet Approves 2.5 Lakh Indiramma Houses, Rs 1000 Crore for Godavari Pushkaralu, New Life Sciences Policy

Telangana Cabinet approved 2.5 lakh Indiramma houses, Rs 1000 crore for Godavari Pushkaralu, Rs 587 crore for Palamuru-Rangareddy scheme, and the Life Sciences Policy 2026–30 aiming for 5 lakh jobs and $25 billion investments.

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Cabinet has approved the construction of 2.5 lakh Indiramma houses for poor families across the state in the second phase of the housing scheme. The Cabinet also approved Rs 1000 crore for Godavari Pushkaralu works, sanctioned funds for the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, approved the Next Generation Life Sciences Policy 2026–30, and cleared several welfare and infrastructure decisions during the Cabinet meeting.

Telangana Cabinet Approves 2.5 Lakh Indiramma Houses

The Telangana State Cabinet approved the sanction of 2 lakh 50 thousand Indiramma houses for poor families in the second phase of the scheme.

The Cabinet decided to sanction 2,000 houses for each Assembly constituency in the state.

The Cabinet also decided to complete the Indiramma houses that were started during the Congress government in the united Andhra Pradesh state but remained incomplete at wall and slab stages.

Under the decision:

  • Houses with completed foundations but without walls and slabs will receive Rs 3 lakh assistance.
  • Houses with completed walls but pending slabs will receive Rs 2 lakh assistance.

The Cabinet resolved to allocate funds for 500 incomplete Indiramma houses in every constituency.

Nearly One Lakh Housewarming Ceremonies by June 2

The Cabinet stated that nearly one lakh housewarming ceremonies for Indiramma houses, where construction began in the first phase, will be held by June 2.

The government also decided to inaugurate 28 Indiramma houses constructed for Kolam tribal families in Kothari village of Kerameri mandal in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad District on June 1.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, and all state ministers will participate in the programme on June 1.

One Lakh LIG Houses Planned in Hyderabad

The Telangana Cabinet decided to construct one lakh Low Income Group (LIG) houses in 24 constituencies under the Hyderabad metropolitan CURF limits for low-income families.

15,000 Families Living in Huts to Receive Indiramma House Sanctions

According to various surveys conducted in Telangana, the government identified 15,000 families living in huts.

The Cabinet resolved to immediately issue Indiramma house sanction letters to all these families.

The government said Telangana should become an ideal state without huts.

Rs 1000 Crore Approved for Godavari Pushkaralu Works

The Cabinet approved Rs 1000 crore for various works related to the Godavari Pushkaralu, scheduled to be held from June 26 to July 7 next year.

Out of the total amount, the Cabinet approved Rs 300 crore as the first installment.

Telangana Cabinet Clears RDSS Proposals

The Telangana Cabinet approved the proposals prepared by Telangana DISCOMs to join the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) being implemented by the Central Government for electricity distribution and infrastructure development.

Mid-Day Meals, Breakfast and Milk for Junior College Students

The State Cabinet approved the implementation of the mid-day meal scheme in all junior colleges across Telangana.

The government also decided to provide breakfast and milk to students in all junior colleges along with government schools.

Cabinet Approves Merger of DCMS and TGRIC

The Telangana Cabinet decided to merge DCMS into MARKFED.

The Cabinet also approved the merger of TGRIC (Telangana Rural Infrastructure Corporation) into HACA.

Rs 587 Crore Approved for Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme

The Cabinet approved Rs 587 crore for land acquisition, rehabilitation, and infrastructure facilities for the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme.

Telangana Targets Top 5 Global Life Sciences Hubs by 2030

The Telangana government said it aims to make Telangana one of the world’s top five Life Sciences hubs by 2030.

To achieve this goal, the Cabinet approved the Next Generation Life Sciences Policy 2026–30.

The policy was formally unveiled at Davos.

Telangana Aims for 5 Lakh Jobs and $25 Billion Investments

Under the new policy, the government aims to attract investments worth 25 billion US dollars and create 5 lakh jobs over the next five years.

The government said Telangana will become a major destination for investments in Life Sciences, Pharma, Biotech, and Medical Innovation sectors.

The policy will create opportunities for youth in research, manufacturing, digital health, and global innovation sectors.

Focus Shifts from Manufacturing to Innovation

The government stated that while the focus was previously on manufacturing, the new policy will now give greater importance to innovation.

The policy also proposes recognizing Research and Development (R&D) units as industries.

The government said the policy would help attract Global Capability Centers and Global Innovation Centers to Telangana.

The Telangana Cabinet approved several major welfare, housing, infrastructure, irrigation, education, and investment-related decisions, including 2.5 lakh Indiramma houses, Rs 1000 crore for Godavari Pushkaralu, Rs 587 crore for the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, and the Next Generation Life Sciences Policy 2026–30. The Cabinet also approved welfare schemes for junior college students and decisions aimed at improving housing and infrastructure across the state.
