5 of a family die in accident while returning from Dargah Urs



A terrible road accident took place in Karnataka’s Yadgir district. In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a jeep collided with a parked lorry. Five people died in this accident. 13 people were seriously injured. All these pilgrims were returning after attending a Dargah Urs. The victims belonged to the same family.

Meanwhile, the deceased have been identified as belonging to Velugodu village in Nandyal district of Andhra Pradesh. It is said that the accident took place while returning after attending Urs at the Dargah in Kalaburagi. 

The deceased have been identified as Munir (40), Nemat (40), Rameeza Begum (50), Mudassar Sher (12) and Sami (13). The injured were taken to the hospital.

As many as five people, including two children, were killed in a road accident near Balichakra village in Yadgir district in Karnataka on June 6 morning. 13 others were injured in the accident and were rushed to RIMS. 

All those, who were killed, were from Velugodu village in Atmakur taluk of Nandyal district in Andhra Pradesh and they were on their way to Kalaburagi to attend Khaja Bandanawaz Urs, Superintendent of Police C. B. Vedamurthy said.  

The SP further said that the accident occurred at 4 a.m. when a  vehicle in which 18 people were travelling hit a truck that was parked on the roadside. 

After receiving first aid care, the injured were shifted to Raichur Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) at Raichur for further treatment and their condition was stable. 

Basaveshwar, Deputy Superintendent of Police of Yadgir and Kalappa Badiger, Police Inspector of Saidapur visited the spot and conducted inquiries. The dead bodies were shifted to a mortuary at government hospital in Saidapur.
