The Telangana High Court has questioned how the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) carried out demolitions despite previous interim orders issued by the court.
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has questioned how the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) carried out demolitions despite previous interim orders issued by the court.
The issue came up during the hearing of a petition filed by residents of Vani Cooperative Housing Society, challenging the demolition of fencing around plots located in Survey Nos. 194/1 and 211 in Medchal–Malkajgiri district.
During the hearing, the judge questioned the authorities over the alleged continuation of demolition activities despite earlier interim directions issued by the High Court.
The court also sought an explanation as to how senior HYDRAA officials allegedly issued orders permitting the demolition despite the court’s directions. The judge reportedly expressed strong displeasure over the alleged actions and observed that such conduct could amount to contempt of court.

Taking the matter seriously, the High Court issued notices to the Medchal–Malkajgiri District Collector, as well as the Tirumalagiri and Malkajgiri Tehsildars, directing them to appear personally before the court on August 11.
The officials have also been directed to produce complete records relating to the disputed demolition and the orders under which the action was carried out.
The court’s intervention has once again brought scrutiny on HYDRAA‘s demolition activities and compliance with judicial orders. Further proceedings are expected after the concerned officials appear before the court with the relevant records.
