KBR Park Elevated Corridor to Cost ₹1,090 Crore
Hyderabad District In-charge Ponnam Prabhakar inspected the ongoing works near KBR Park on Friday along with District Collector Dr. Priyanka Ala, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan and other officials.
Hyderabad : The one-way traffic system around KBR Park will continue, while the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has finalised plans for a 4.3-km-long elevated corridor from Jubilee Hills Check Post Junction to NFCL Junction to provide a long-term solution to traffic congestion.
Minister for Transport, BC Welfare and Hyderabad District In-charge Ponnam Prabhakar inspected the ongoing works near KBR Park on Friday along with District Collector Dr. Priyanka Ala, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan and other officials.
The proposed six-lane steel flyover will be constructed in two packages at a total sanctioned cost of ₹1,090 crore. The first package, costing ₹580 crore, will connect Jubilee Hills Check Post Junction with Mudha Junction. The second package, estimated at ₹510 crore, will extend from Mudha Junction to Mufakkam Jah College, with a dedicated ramp to Banjara Hills Road No. 1.
The corridor is expected to ensure signal-free movement at five major junctions, reduce travel time and fuel consumption, and ease traffic congestion. Officials said modern modular steel construction technology would help speed up the works while minimising inconvenience to commuters.
The revised plan replaces earlier proposals for separate underpasses and grade separators. Officials estimate savings of ₹800 crore in land acquisition and ₹400 crore in construction costs, amounting to ₹1,200 crore in total estimated public expenditure savings. The alignment is designed to minimise impact on KBR Park’s greenery.
