The existing three-coach trains are finding it difficult to accommodate the growing number of passengers, making additional capacity essential.
According to the tender, the contractor will be selected after technical and financial evaluation of bids. The delivery timeline will depend on the contract conditions, manufacturing and testing processes.
Once introduced, the additional coaches are expected to increase passenger-carrying capacity and help reduce overcrowding on busy routes. Depending on operational requirements, they could also provide flexibility in improving metro services.
