With a deep depression moving across Chhattisgarh and the active southwest monsoon expected to bring widespread rainfall across Telangana, Revenue, Disaster Management, Housing, Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has directed officials to remain on high alert and take all precautionary measures to ensure public safety. During a teleconference with Disaster Management officials on Thursday, the minister reviewed the rain situation and instructed district authorities to stay prepared as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued Red and Orange Alerts for several districts.

Minister Holds Teleconference on Heavy Rain Preparedness
Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy conducted a teleconference with Revenue and Disaster Management officials on Thursday to review the rainfall received over the past two days and the heavy rainfall expected over the next two days.
He instructed officials to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the public due to the impact of the deep depression and continuous rains.
The minister directed the district revenue administration to work in coordination with all departments and remain available at the field level round the clock.
Officials Asked to Monitor Flood-Prone Areas
The minister instructed officials to continuously monitor the situation in districts receiving heavy rainfall.
He directed authorities to take preventive safety measures near:
- Streams
- Canals
- Tanks
- Reservoirs
People living in vulnerable areas should be alerted, and if necessary, shifted immediately to safe locations or rehabilitation centres.

The minister said District Collectors and officials from the following departments must coordinate closely:
- Police
- Revenue
- Panchayat Raj
- Municipal Administration
- Electricity
- Irrigation
- Medical and Health
He instructed officials to respond immediately to any emergency situation and ensure timely rescue and relief operations.
Special Focus on Hyderabad
Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said continuous rainfall in Hyderabad should not disrupt:
- Transportation
- Electricity supply
- Drinking water supply
He directed HYDRA, GHMC, and Traffic Police to work together to prevent traffic congestion and ensure that normal life is not affected.
Rainfall Deficit Nearly Eliminated
The minister said that until four days ago, Telangana had a 30% rainfall deficit.
However, due to the heavy rainfall received during the last two days, the rainfall deficit has almost been eliminated and has reached nearly normal levels.

Red and Orange Alerts Issued for Telangana Districts
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warning, heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is likely across Telangana on Thursday and Friday (July 30 – July 31).
The minister said alerts have been issued for several districts.

The minister instructed District Collectors, especially in districts expected to receive heavy rainfall over the next two days, to remain fully alert and take advance precautionary measures to ensure that people do not face any difficulties.
He stressed that officials should proactively prepare for any emergency arising from the heavy rains.
As heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is forecast across Telangana due to the deep depression over Chhattisgarh and the active southwest monsoon, Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has directed all departments to remain on high alert.
