Hyderabad: Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao (KTR) has announced that the second phase of distribution of 13,300 dignity houses (double-bedroom houses) will commence on September 21.
Initial Allocation of 11,700 Double-Bedroom Houses
During a review meeting of the double-bedroom dignity housing program at the Secretariat on Friday, KTR shared that the first phase successfully allocated around 11,700 double-bedroom houses.
13,300 More Dignity Houses to be Distributed
Now, the Telangana Government is ready to distribute an additional 13,300 dignity houses starting from September 21, according to an official release.
560 Square Feet Double-Bedroom Houses Stand Out
KTR expressed pride in Telangana’s double-bedroom housing scheme, which he described as unmatched in the country. He highlighted that the Telangana Government’s initiative to provide double-bedroom houses covering 560 square feet is unparalleled in comparison to other states.
Government’s Commitment to Providing Cost-Free Housing
The minister emphasized the government’s commitment to providing these double-bedroom dignity houses to the underprivileged citizens of Hyderabad free of cost. Each house, valued at about Rs. 50 lakhs, is completely allotted without any charge.
The Remarkable Financial Commitment
KTR revealed that the total cost of constructing one lakh double-bedroom house units in Hyderabad amounted to Rs. 9,100 crores, but their market value exceeded Rs. 50,000 crores. Despite this, the Telangana government is providing these houses free of cost to those in need. He commended GHMC officials for their unwavering dedication to this ambitious project.
Fairness and Accountability Emphasized
Furthermore, KTR underlined the transparency in the beneficiary selection process, noting that neither MLAs nor public representatives have any influence in the computer-based draws, which are carried out transparently in the presence of the media. He issued a stern warning against any possible irregularities and emphasized that accountability lies with the relevant authorities.
Upcoming Gruhalakshmi Scheme
The Gruhalakshmi scheme is highly anticipated and will be introduced soon, with potential changes under consideration for the GHMC area based on suggestions from Ministers. Detailed guidelines regarding notary properties in the city will also be released by the government.
Regularization of House Plots
KTR mentioned that the regularization of house plots under G.O 58 and 59 has brought much-needed relief to city residents. Additionally, the government is preparing to address encroachments along the Musi river bank and allocate double-bedroom houses to poor families in these areas.
The minister highlighted that various welfare schemes introduced by the Telangana Government, including the construction of double-bedroom houses and regularization of plots, have benefited approximately 15,000 to 20,000 people in each assembly segment.
