Late on Saturday night, AIMIM announced the expulsion of its long-time leader Mirza Rahmat Baig and directed him to submit his resignation to the Chairperson of the Telangana Legislative Council.
The development comes amid reports that Baig had approached the Cyber Crime Police with a complaint alleging that some individuals were blackmailing him. According to the reported complaint, the accused allegedly threatened to release a purported deepfake video and demanded a substantial amount of money from him.
However, police have so far not released details about the alleged video or made the full contents of the complaint public. As a result, various claims and speculation have been circulating on social media.

The issue has also taken a political turn, with opponents of AIMIM questioning the party leadership over the reasons behind Baig’s expulsion. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and Hyderabad Youth Congress president Salman Khan alleged that names of other individuals were also being linked to the controversy. He urged AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi to clarify the reasons for Baig’s removal.
Meanwhile, BJYM leader Nitin Nandkar also released a video questioning AIMIM’s decision and demanded that the party make the reasons for the disciplinary action public.
At present, neither the police nor AIMIM has provided detailed public clarification regarding the alleged video or the complete reasons behind Baig’s expulsion. Further official information is awaited as speculation surrounding the matter continues.
