The incident reportedly took place in a village under Atmakur mandal in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. The accused has been identified as Shankar Reddy, a village wing president of the Congress party.
According to the complaint, Shankar Reddy allegedly approached the woman and her family with assurances that he would help them obtain an Indiramma house. It is alleged that he later sexually assaulted the woman after gaining her trust through the promise.
The victim reportedly informed her husband about the incident, following which he approached village elders and raised the matter before them. The family has also alleged that the accused subsequently threatened and humiliated them.
