According to preliminary information, the dispute began between two students of a school in the Chandrampalem area and gradually escalated, leading to the formation of two rival groups. The youths had reportedly clashed earlier near Shiva Shakti Nagar on Thimmapuram Road.
Police sources said a personal dispute, reportedly linked to a love affair, may have triggered the confrontation. However, the exact cause of the clash is under investigation.

During the earlier incident, members of the groups allegedly stopped a biker passing through the area and attacked him. Tensions reportedly continued, and another clash was attempted on Thursday night.
Police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the gathering. On seeing the police personnel, several youths reportedly fled from the area. Authorities later traced and took 17 youths into custody.
Police suspect that several of those involved had consumed alcohol before the confrontation. A case has been registered against six persons, including three adults and three minors.
The incident, which came to light late, has raised concerns over increasing clashes involving student groups in the city. Police are continuing their investigation and are gathering further details about those involved in the violence.
